Getting There

Bedarra Island is located approximately 4 kilometres off the Tropical North Queensland coast, midway between Townsville and Cairns. Access to Bedarra Island is via Dunk Island.

Getting to Cairns

To get to Bedarra Island regular flights are available to Cairns from all Australian Capital cities with Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue.

Once arriving at Cairns you are either able to hop on a short 45 minute flight to Dunk Island with Hinterland Transfers or alternatively a boat transfer operates between Mission Beach and Dunk Island daily.

A 20 minute courtesy boat transfer connects between Dunk and Bedarra Islands and meets all Hinterland transfers.

Transfer between Cairns and Bedarra Island

By Scenic flight

Hinterland Aviation operates regular scenic transfer flights between Cairns Airport and Dunk Island up to 3 times daily on behalf of Voyages Hotels & Resorts. Private transfer charter flights to Dunk Island are also available upon request.

Transfer duration: approx. 45 min. Check-in is 30 minutes prior to the flight departure at the Hinterland Aviation terminal.

Bookings must be made through the Voyages Contact Centre on 1300 134 044 within Australia or +61 2 8296 8010 (internationally). An email or fax confirmation will be sent prior to your flight. Bring this document and photo id (such as a drivers' license or passport) as this will be required at check-in.

Connecting times: if arriving from a domestic flight to Cairns a minimum of one hour connection between flights is required. When arriving from an international flight a minimum of two hours is required - this includes domestic travel on an international flight number. These connection times are required in either direction.

Hinterland Aviation terminal: a courtesy private car transfer from the main terminal at Cairns to the Hinterland Aviation terminal is provided by Sunpalm Coach transfers. Passengers will meet the private car transfer at the Sunpalm check-in desk located in the Domestic Terminal.

Note: Passengers must advise their connecting flight details 7 days prior to departure. Failure to do so will result in transfers not being arranged

Guests staying overnight in Cairns, are required to make their own way to the Hinterland Aviation Terminal. Final check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure time.

Luggage restrictions: passengers are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each. Soft suitcases are preferable. A limit of 32kg total per person applies, this includes check in and carry-on hand luggage (subject to loading restrictions). Luggage storage facilities are available at the Hinterland Terminal.

Group bookings: bookings of 10 or more passengers must charter a flight. Groups of 9 or less passengers may travel on the Hinterland flights.
